Mayotte Braces for More Flooding After Deadly Storm in Madagascar
Mayotte, a French territory in the Indian Ocean, is on high alert after being hit by heavy rains and flooding, just one month after Cyclone Chido devastated the islands. The latest storm, Dikeledi, made landfall in northern Madagascar, causing flash floods and landslides, and leaving at least three people dead. Dikeledi passed approximately 100 km south of Mayotte, causing significant mudslides and flooding in the southern village of Mbouini. At least 14,500 people have taken refuge in emergency shelters. The storm is now moving towards Mozambique, which is still recovering from Cyclone Chido.
