Rubio Tapped as Secretary of State in Trump's New Administration
According to the New York Times and Reuters, President-elect Donald Trump has reportedly decided to nominate Sen. Marco Rubio as the new Secretary of State.
Trump and Rubio sparred during the 2016 election, but the Cuban-American senator, who is a hawk on China and a supporter of Israel, has since been supportive of Trump's agenda.
If selected, Rubio would be the first Hispanic Secretary of State in U.S. history.
The final decision will be made by the Republican leader, but a source familiar has confirmed that Rubio is next in line to lead the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence after current Vice Chairman Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., is appointed to the State Department role by Trump.
