Tragic Plane Crash in D.C.: U.S. and Russian Figure Skaters Among the Victims
U.S. and Russian figure skaters were on board the American Airlines flight that crashed near Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. The plane, carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, collided with a military helicopter during its descent, causing both to crash into the Potomac River. Among the victims were two former world champion Russian figure skaters, Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, along with other Russian citizens and several U.S. figure skaters, coaches, and family members. The crash resulted in at least 28 fatalities, and an investigation into the collision is underway.
