Tulip Siddiq Resigns as Treasury Minister Amid Anti-Corruption Investigation
Tulip Siddiq, the former Economic Secretary to the Treasury, has resigned following pressure over an anti-corruption investigation in Bangladesh. Despite being cleared of breaking ministerial rules, Siddiq felt her role had become a distraction from the government's work. The investigation involved claims that her family embezzled up to £3.9bn from infrastructure spending in Bangladesh, where her aunt is the former prime minister. Siddiq had also come under scrutiny for her use of properties in London linked to her aunt's allies.
