UN Urges Rwanda to Withdraw Forces from DR Congo as M23 Rebels Advance
The United Nations is calling on Rwandan forces to withdraw from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) after M23 rebels, backed by Rwanda, made significant advances towards the key city of Goma. The conflict in the region has already claimed multiple peacekeepers' lives and forced thousands to flee their homes. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged the Rwanda Defence Forces to cease support to the M23 and pull back from DRC territory. The UN Security Council has condemned the ongoing offensive and demanded that all external forces in the region withdraw immediately.
