It's a sad day for football fans as we bid farewell to Salvatore Schillaci, the Italian legend who won the golden boot at the 1990 World Cup. Known as 'Toto', he passed away at the age of 59 after a battle with colon cancer. Schillaci's international fame began at the 1990 World Cup where he starred for the Azzurri, scoring six goals to win the golden boot. His personal efforts were rewarded as he beat Lothar Matthäus and Diego Maradona to win the golden ball as the tournament's best player. Despite being diagnosed with colon cancer in 2022 and being admitted to Palermo Civico hospital in early September, Schillaci will always be remembered for his magical performances during Italia '90. Rest in peace, Toto!

An Italian investigative journalist, Francesco Cancellato, received a notification from WhatsApp that he was targeted with spyware made by Israel-based Paragon Solutions. Cancellato is known for exposing young fascists within prime minister Giorgia Meloni’s far-right party. The spyware, known as Graphite, was delivered to targets through PDFs in group chats without their permission. It is not clear how long Cancellato may have been compromised, but he published a high-profile investigative story last year that exposed fascist chants, Nazi salutes, and antisemitic rants by members of Meloni’s party’s youth wing. Paragon Solutions declined to comment.
