Despite Hoberg's claims that he never bet on baseball, the league's investigation revealed that his friend made 141 baseball bets between April and November 2023, totaling over $213,000. While Hoberg was once considered one of the best umpires in baseball, his actions have led to his termination, effective immediately. Hoberg can apply for reinstatement no earlier than 2026 spring training.
